I Nostri Amici di Penna - Rough Draft due on Tuesday, January 7, 2020

Amici di Penna (Pen pals)
Cosa possiamo dire ai nostri amici di penna?

Format:
There are three basic things that I am looking for in your letter (in addition to content).

1.     Greet the person by name,
2.     Body of the letter (one full page handwritten)
a.     Talk about yourself,
b.     Ask three questions that were not answered in the letter you received,
c.     Answer the questions from the letter you received,
3.     Say goodbye (use a “sign off” phrase on this worksheet) and sign your name.

In Italian, we start a letter with the word “caro” or “cara” (dear). If you are very close to someone, you can use “carissimo” or “carissima.” Carissimo/carissima are used when writing to someone you are close to and speak to regularly, so “caro” and “cara” are more appropriate. Of course, “caro/a” should agree in gender and number with your penpal. The plural forms are “cari/care.”
Per esempio…
Caro Matteo
 OR
Cara Viviana

Now, use the topics below to begin your letter.
Feel free to include other topics or expand on only a few of the topics below.
Your letter should be at least one full page handwritten.

Topics
1.     Who you are, how old you are, where you are from, description of yourself,
2.     Your morning routine – how you commute to school, how long it takes…
3.     What you study at LaGuardia, and if you have a class you like/dislike,
4.     Family,
5.     Friends,
6.     Pets,
7.     Why you study Italian,
8.     Where you like to shop,
9.     If you have a favorite Italian clothing brand,
10. If you have a favorite Italian movie/music,
11. If you have a favorite clothing brand, movie, music that is NOT Italian,
12. If you have ever traveled, where you have been,
13. If you have ever been to Italy,
14. If you have a favorite Italian food,
15. What you like to do during your free time,
16. Ask at least three questions that were not already answered in your introductory letter,
17. Answer the questions from the letter you received,

Be sure to write at least one FULL page (handwritten). I am going to correct your rough draft (due on (Tuesday, January 7) and give them back to you. Then we will write our letters on nice paper (I will provide, unless you want to provide your own J) and then finally…mail our letters!
