I Nostri Amici di Penna - Rough Draft due on Tuesday, January 7, 2020

Amici di Penna (Pen pals)
Cosa possiamo dire ai nostri amici di penna?

Format:
There are three basic things that I am looking for in your letter (in addition to content).

1.     Greet the person by name,
2.     Body of the letter (one full page handwritten)
a.     Talk about yourself,
b.     Ask three questions that were not answered in the letter you received,
c.     Answer the questions from the letter you received,
3.     Say goodbye (use a “sign off” phrase on this worksheet) and sign your name.

In Italian, we start a letter with the word “caro” or “cara” (dear). If you are very close to someone, you can use “carissimo” or “carissima.” Carissimo/carissima are used when writing to someone you are close to and speak to regularly, so “caro” and “cara” are more appropriate. Of course, “caro/a” should agree in gender and number with your penpal. The plural forms are “cari/care.”
Per esempio…
Caro Matteo
 OR
Cara Viviana

Now, use the topics below to begin your letter.
Feel free to include other topics or expand on only a few of the topics below.
Your letter should be at least one full page handwritten.

Topics
1.     Who you are, how old you are, where you are from, description of yourself,
2.     Your morning routine – how you commute to school, how long it takes…
3.     What you study at LaGuardia, and if you have a class you like/dislike,
4.     Family,
5.     Friends,
6.     Pets,
7.     Why you study Italian,
8.     Where you like to shop,
9.     If you have a favorite Italian clothing brand,
10. If you have a favorite Italian movie/music,
11. If you have a favorite clothing brand, movie, music that is NOT Italian,
12. If you have ever traveled, where you have been,
13. If you have ever been to Italy,
14. If you have a favorite Italian food,
15. What you like to do during your free time,
16. Ask at least three questions that were not already answered in your introductory letter,
17. Answer the questions from the letter you received,
18. Anything else that you would like to include!

Be sure to write at least one FULL page (handwritten). I am going to correct your rough draft (due on (Tuesday, January 7) and give them back to you. Then we will write our letters on nice paper (I will provide, unless you want to provide your own J) and then finally…mail our letters!

Pick one of the phrases below to “sign off.” Do not just use “Da.”
·      Cari saluti – Warm regards
·      Distinti saluti – Best regards
·      Un abbraccio – A hug
·      Stammi bene! – Take care!
·      A presto – Talk to you soon
·      A più tardi! – Later

Your rough draft is due on Tuesday, January 7. Do not email me your rough draft. Be sure to that it is handwritten and given to me in class. No photocopies or electronic copies will be accepted.

Blog di Moda - due Wednesday, December 11, 2019

Gina Lollobrigida, un'attrice italiana
The final copy of your BLOG DI MODA project is due on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. Please make your final copy beautiful and colorful. Please be creative and try to make it look like a real blog or fashion article!

Please make sure that you include all of the following components to get the best grade for your project:
1. A picture or pictures of what your text describes.
2. Fifteen (15) sentences describing your picture(s) in Italian. (Do not number your sentences).
3. Your grammar is correct and you spell-checked your work. Microsoft Word tends to autocorrect many words, so please re-read your project multiple times and look for errors.
4. Hand your project in on time, on Wednesday, December 11, 2019.
5. Your final copy MUST BE TYPED.
6. Be sure that you have a TITLE in Italian.
7. Your project is beautiful and colorful. If you just print out a picture and write your sentences, you will not receive full credit according to the rubric.

For every day that your project is late, there will be a ten point deduction. This project will be worth a quiz grade. Leaving your project in your locker, telling me that your printer is not working, or that your dog ate your homework, etc. will result in a ten point deduction if it is not handed in during your class period on Wednesday, December 11.

Do not email me your final project.

Below you will find the rubric for this project. Please click on the picture to enlarge.

Un Blog di Moda - Rough Draft - Due Monday, December 2, 2019

Un Blog di Moda - ROUGH DRAFT

The first draft of our project "Blog di Moda," will be due on Monday, December 2, 2019. You may hand this in before December 2nd if you would like.

Your final project, a fashion blog, will consist of a picture/pictures/drawings of people. You will describe the pictures with at least 15 sentences in Italian (total). Please include what the people in the pictures are wearing, colors, and materials (all in ch. 10). If you have three pictures, you can write five sentences per picture. Be sure that these pictures can fit on a piece of computer paper (this is the size that I want your final project to be).

On Monday, December, 2, 2019, I will collect the 15 sentence rough draft ONLY (with no pictures). Be sure that you know which pictures you will be describing. Do not talk about Britney Spears in her famous jean-outfit with Justin Timberlake, and then hand in a final copy of Lady Gaga in her meat-dress with text describing Britney Spears. Do not hand in a nice final draft for your rough draft as I am going to write all over it/correct it.

Just a friendly reminder - do not use Google Translate! The online dictionary wordreference.com is very helpful. If there are any verb tenses in your writing that we have NOT learned (we only know two verb tenses ...the passato prossimo and the present), then you will receive a 0.

If you do not hand in a rough draft, you will get a 0 and I will not correct your draft late. Please be sure to hand it in on time.

Thank you.
